Producer: Domaine Genot-Boulanger   Region: Cote de Beaune, Cote d’Or, Burgundy, France  Varietal: Pinot Noir Year: 2017
Winemaker Notes:
“The combes designate places where the slope is cut, hence its name. These are also channels through which collapses, heavy rains and water from behind the coast flow away. Our all-Pinot Noir plot planted in 1983, 0.47 hectares, faces southwest.  The climate Les Combes is a very narrow, long plot to the west of the village. The soil contains deep red clays with silt on the surface. It is very filtering.
Already the nose is juicy: a triumph of red fruits just collected (mara des bois, gooseberry, burlat).  Decanting points out notes of spices as well as woody nuances which will soon melt into a bouquet where fresh fruit dominates. The word juicy comes to mind when you dip your mouth into it: a fine and crunchy texture like the skin of a berry. With freshness and lots of energy, the wine sows wild strawberries all along the palate, it is a grand cru, full of fruit, grandiose and relaxed.”
